Sew a Button Up Shirt: 5-Week Series

Making your own button down shift is an incredibly satisfying, super-skill-building project. However, it does have a lot of tricky bits! We’ll take it step-by-step, together.

In this 5-week course, you’ll gain the skills you need for classic shirtmaking, including:

• Pattern matching (don’t fear the plaid!)

• Sewing a double yoke with enclosed shoulder seams

• Creating a sharp collar with collar stand

• Constructing a sleeve placket

• Sewing on buttons and creating buttonholes

• Easing in sleeves

• Sewing a curved hem

Saturdays, 1-4pm: Nov. 7, Nov. 14, Nov. 21, Dec. 5, Dec. 12, Dec. 19.

Prerequisites: Be comfortable using a sewing machine and have completed at least 2-3 garment projects.
